2-Axis Horizontal High-Rigidity Yaw Unit

Enables more direct 2-axis horizontal motion.

This is an upgrade part for the rotating mechanism of 2-axis horizontal motion systems.

It was developed to reduce the flex that occurred in conventional turntable structures and to transmit
yaw-direction motion more clearly to the seat.

By incorporating cross-roller bearings and a custom machined aluminum bracket, it enhances the
rigidity of the rotating mechanism, making it easier to feel the true motion of the 2-axis horizontal system.

Background of Development

In conventional two-axis horizontal mechanisms, a standard turntable was used for the rotating section.

However, when motion was performed while the driver was applying weight, the
turntable would flex, causing the seat mounted on top of it to shift slightly—a problem that needed to be addressed.

As a result, the yaw-direction movement and rear-end flow that we intended to convey were diminished, and the sensation
of the motion could become ambiguous.

To address this issue, we developed a high-rigidity yaw
unit that employs cross-roller bearings and specially
designed machined aluminum fittings instead of a turntable.


Adoption of Cross-Roller Bearings

Cross-roller bearings are used in the rotating section.

This suppresses play and deflection during rotation, transmitting yaw-direction
movements to the seat more stably.

This allows you to more clearly sense changes in the vehicle’s orientation

, rear-end movement, and the onset of sliding—all of which are crucial in two-axis horizontal motion.


Custom Machined Aluminum Bracket

Specially designed, machined aluminum brackets are used to secure the bearings.

By avoiding the use of generic turntables, we ensure the rigidity and precision required for two-axis horizontal motion.

By stabilizing the rotation center beneath the seat, it
minimizes motion input drift, leading to a more direct sensory experience.
